OTA (over-the-air) technology, which allows network operators and service providers remote access to the content of a SIM card, was available long before the embedded UICC was designed. But exactly this eUICC, which plays a key role in the machine-to-machine (M2M) communication of the "Internet of Things" (IoT), is now pushing this technology in an unprecedented manner. As the eUICC is not removable anymore, all changes like provisioning subscriptions or updating and configuring card content can only occur over the air. This involves a long chain of different entities that all must be thoroughly tested. An OTA test solution must be reliable and deliver valuable results for the individual components and the complete communication chain.
