Paderborn, August 29, 2019 — Leading test equipment expert COMPRION introduces the first solution for 5G/USIM handset conformance testing defined in 3GPP specification TS 31.121 USIM Rel-15. The COMPRION SIMfony MT8000A solution is developed with the support of Anritsu, a leading global communications test & measurement solution provider. The test platform has already been introduced as TP 226 at the Global Certification Forum (GCF).
TP 226 will cover 5G USIM/USAT test cases, some of which are already part of a work plan that was approved by the 3GPP CT Working Group 6 in 2018. The work plan proposes the introduction of test cases to TS 31.121 covering 5G NR aspects. All test cases are already assigned to GCF Work Item (WI) 508-NR. First test case specifications have been approved in April 2019 and implementations from COMPRION will be commercially available in the next few months.
“Thanks to the combined expertise of Anritsu in network simulation and COMPRION in USIM interface testing, COMPRION is developing a pioneering solution for combined 5G/USIM testing. The Anritsu MT8000A integrates perfectly into the SIMfony 5G system.” says COMPRION’s Managing Director Michael Wehmeier about the collaboration.
Anritsu’s Marketing Director Kevin Ingrams commented that “Anritsu is pleased to continue its successful partnership with COMPRION in creating market leading mobile cellular device test solutions. This latest 5G USIM/USAT solution demonstrates the technology leadership that both companies maintain in the 5G cellular device test market.
COMPRION SIMfony MT8000A consists of the Anritsu 5G Base Station Simulator MT8000A and the COMPRION (U)SIM simulator UT³ Platform for conformance testing. The solution will also be available with the COMPRION pre-conformance tester Prove 2.
The UT³ Platform is the heart of COMPRION’s terminal testing solution and is validated as a platform for conformance testing at GCF, PTCRB, EMVCo and NFC Forum. Besides conformance testing, it is a fully configurable analogue and logical card simulator for testing mobile handsets, NFC enabled devices with focus on contact-based and contactless Smart Card interface technologies.
The Anritsu MT8000A is a single-box radio communications test station that supports both the sub-6 GHz and the millimeter wave bands used by 5G. As well as supporting 4x4 MIMO and 8CA implemented by eMBB (Enhanced Mobile Broadband), it provides a flexible environment for future 5G test requirements, including URLLC (Ultra-Reliable and Low Latency Communications) and mMTC (massive Machine Type Communications).
