When we founded our company in 2002, we wanted our test solution to ensure the highest level of security and reliability for the introduction of new cell phones. A lot has happened since then: 2G became 5G, contactless interfaces have been added to contact-based technologies, and the eSIM is increasingly replacing the SIM card.
Today –20 years later – we still have the ambition to make the Connected World with all its numerous interfaces reliable and secure by means of our sophisticated and high-precision test solutions. COMPRION. Tested by time. Trusted by all.
The company is founded as a management buyout from the test department of a smart card company based in Paderborn. At this time, the portfolio consists of the SIM simulator IT³ Platform – the worldwide only analog and digital cell phone certification test system according to the industry standards GCF and PTCRB – and some test SIMs.
It turns out that the monitoring (sniffing) function of the IT³ Platform conformance test system is especially important for field testers. However, they need a small, handy tool to be able to test in the field. As a result, the IT³ Move! is developed.
For GCF and PTCRB mobile device certification, some tests require a combination of SIM simulator and network simulator. The market demands a highly automated and intuitive test solution with a seamlessly integrated network simulator. COMPRION is initially working with Anritsu to achieve this. This lays the foundation for COMPRION SIMfony, the best-selling test system for combined USIM/USAT handset testing to date.
So far, we have only specialized in the contact interface between card and cell phone. But we are now working hard on the development of test tools for tracing and simulating the increasingly important contactless NFC communication. Furthermore, we are gradually launching our 2nd generation test solutions that support the NFC relevant technologies SWP/HCI.
With our expertise, we support Verizon Wireless in setting up their own carrier acceptance test plans. We also provide the corresponding test solution for these test plans: COMPRION SIMfony LTE, the new combined USIM/USAT test solution for LTE with integrated Rohde & Schwarz network simulator.
We proudly celebrate our 10th birthday. Our company is steadily growing. The team has grown from an initial 17 employees in 2002 to over 100.
For the first time, COMPRION integrates an industrial robot that is highly automated and controlled by a COMPRION test system. The 6-axis robot integrated into the COMPRION NFC Forum Analog Test Solution allows NFC devices to be tested regardless of shape and size. Later, the robot cell is also used for EMVCo conformance testing of contactless payment terminals and contactless devices.
The GSMA NFC Test Book is a collection of test cases for testing the Secure Element-based NFC functions of a cell phone. COMPRION takes over the editorship of the corresponding test specification and significantly contributes to its design.
The eUICC/eSIM offers many new applications and opportunities in consumer devices and in the M2M sector. Nevertheless, the associated Remote SIM Provisioning (RSP) must, of course, also function reliably and ensure interoperability. COMPRION uses its expertise from UICC testing to contribute to the specifications for the GSMA M2M and consumer devices architectures, but also to develop helpful tools and test systems for RSP functionality and interoperability.
COMPRION has grown steadily in recent years, with employees spread across various office buildings. In March 2017, we are moving into our new company headquarters in Paderborn's Almepark Nord. Finally, all Paderborn employees are united under one roof again. The new building was built to passive house standard with a special focus on energy efficiency and sustainability.
The COMPRION SIMfony family gets another member: 5G is on the rise and together with Anritsu we are launching the first USIM/USAT test solution for 5G with integrated network simulator. Work is also underway on a 5G test solution with integrated Rohde & Schwarz network simulator.
The COMPRION eSIM Test Profile Service (eTPS) comprises a variety of test profiles that can be used to test commercial mobile eSIM devices in the lab, e.g. by establishing a connection with a network simulator. This service is unique in the market.
