IPAd Testing in a Trusted Environment
In the GSMA eSIM architecture, the IoT Profile Assistant (IPA) is a standardized logical component defined by the GSMA SGP.31/SGP.32 specifications, designed to facilitate eSIM profile life cycle aspects in IoT devices. Developing and testing an IPA on the device (IPAd) requires interaction with multiple systems such as eIM, SM-DP+, eUICC, and the IoT device itself.
COMPRION enables developers to test IPAd functionality in a comprehensive end-to-end environment. All components can be simulated by COMPRION tools. In addition to this, the simulated eUICC can be substituted by an SGP.32 test eUICC from STMicroelectronics.
All components have been extensively tested for interoperability with the eUICCs from STMicroelectronics, enabling seamless integration. eUICCs from other manufacturers are possible as well. The testing environment is also developed to fully meet the requirements of the GSMA technical specifications.

Why This Matters
Deviations from the specification or hidden interoperability issues often only appear after field deployment, where they are difficult and costly to diagnose. Early validation of the IPAd component helps you:
Detect integration risks before launch
Prevent field failures
Accelerate development cycles
Ensure standards compliance
Solution: Full Simulation of the eSIM IoT Environment.
COMPRION tools come with extensive configuration options, facilitating the simulation of different test conditions. They also come with outstanding monitoring capabilities—a prerequisite to understand, analyse, and debug:
The Loader IoT feature of COMPRION’s eUICC Profile Manager simulates the SM-DP+ behavior and also contains an eIM.
The COMPRION Network Bridge emulates a mobile IoT device and provides an on-device IPAd simulation which can serve as a reference implementation. This functionality enables direct
comparison with the IPAd currently under development.
A real eUICC from STMicroelectronics completes the end-toend test environment. Alternatively, an eSIM simulation can be connected via a virtual card reader called iSIMconnect, provided
by COMPRION. It provides remote SIM provisioning functionality and allows the use of different test keys, certificates, profiles, and eIM configurations.
The Solution at a Glance
COMPRION combines its trusted test tools with mutually validated partner components to create a complete end-to-end IoT eSIM test environment. Unlike purely simulated environments, our solution supports testing with production-grade, GSMA-compliant eUICCs from ST Microelectronics.

(1) Simulated eUICC limited to RSP capabilities using SGP.26 test certificates
(2) As an alternative a physical test card in a card reader can be used
(3) COMPRION Network Bridge as reference implementation
(4) eUICC Profile Manager provides an eIM simulation capability
(5) The simulated SM-DP+ is using SGP.26 test certificates
(6) Supported protocols: HTTP(S) with JSON or ASN.1 binding
(7) Supported profile download mechanism today: „direct profile download“

“Many companies are developing components for the SGP.32 ecosystem for the first time. The challenge often lies not in implementing individual functions, but in validating the interaction between the IPAd, the eUICC, and backend systems. This is where our joint solution provides value”
