By offering a new validated test bench according to NFC Forum CR13/TR13.1, COMPRION paves the way for interoperable products using wireless charging
With the NFC Forum's certification of Release CR13/TR13.1, wireless charging is becoming increasingly important for small devices such as digital pens, smart glasses, smart locks, fitness trackers including generic IoT modules. Chip manufacturers and product vendors are looking to integrate batteries that can be recharged wirelessly with up to 1 watt of power.
Marcus Dormanns, Director Product Management explains: “At the analog level, the test bench verifies the optimized operating volume and the associated field strength and signal wave form timings. A special feature here is foreign object detection (FOD), i.e. the test cases simulate a foreign object (e.g. paper clip) in the operation volume and check the reaction to it. At the digital level, the protocol is checked to ensure interoperability with various manufacturer implementations.”
“This announcement is an example of how NFC Forum empowers companies to validate the interoperability and performance of their NFC-enabled wireless charging products,” adds NFC Forum Executive Director Mike McCamon.
The test bench is available in two variants: for certification with the COMPRION UT³ Platform and the Kawasaki robot or for pre-certification consisting of the COMPRION CL Verify plus the Dobot MG400.
