The Digital Key ecosystem is evolving rapidly—and with it, the requirements for testing. Manual testing is becoming increasingly impractical and challenging for automotive OEMs and smartphone manufacturers implementing and validating CCC Digital Key. For this reason, COMPRION and Technica Engineering have joined forces to develop automated test case execution for Digital Key.
Automation for Growing Complexity
Today, Digital Key E2E interoperability test processes are often fragmented between automotive OEMs and smartphone manufacturers. Manual testing is time-consuming, error-prone, and increasingly impractical, especially as the number of test cases continues to grow. Currently, there are 38 NFC and 14 BLE test cases, and the number is expected to rise as the CCC specifications evolve.
Complexity also increases due to the rising number of vehicle models and smartphones, as well as the need to ensure interoperability across brands and devices.
How the Solution Works
COMPRION and Technica have joined forces to automate the NFC Test cases.
- COMPRION provides validated test suites, APIs, and instruction-based identifiers—including the required hardware for test platforms.
- Technica Engineering integrates these components into a vehicle emulation test environment and controls a robot that automatically performs typical vehicle actions (e.g., unlocking, locking, checking drive readiness).
- At the same time, the solution sniffs the communication between the Vehicle Under Test (VUT) and the Device Under Test (DUT) and verifies that all commands and responses are executed correctly according to the CCC specification—allowing protocol tests to be fully automated.
This creates an end-to-end workflow that automates regression testing and can run reliably overnight or on weekends—without manual intervention.
