COMPRION reaches an important milestone in the field of 5G RedCap testing: The Global Certification Forum (GCF) approved COMPRION's test platforms as the worldwide first test platforms for RedCap USAT device certification.

USAT tests verify that devices correctly support USIM Application Toolkit, which is used by SIM card applications e.g. for displaying menus, requesting user input or providing services like network interaction to update the USIM content. In this way, the RedCap USAT tests ensure that SIM-based functions work reliably in RedCap devices. RedCap (Reduced Capability) is a specialized IoT technology within the 5G SA standard. For other network technologies, USAT testing is already an integral part of the device certification.

For RedCap devices, COMPRION has successfully implemented GCF relevant USAT tests from 3GPP TS 31.124, which were then validated on its SIMfony test platforms TP226 (SIMfony MT8000A) and TP227 (SIMfony CMX500). The two platforms consist of COMPRION’s UT³ Platform card simulator combined with two different network simulators. TP226 operates with the Anritsu 5G Radio Communication Test Station MT8000A, while TP227 uses the R&S CMX500 5G Radio Communication Tester.

The GCF work item WI-509-NR_RedCap "USAT Interworking with 5G for NR RedCap" becomes activated as the GCF CAG#84 meeting approved the TP226 and TP227 validations of all Priority 1 and additional Priority 2 tests from this work item. With the activation of this work item by GCF, testing the USAT functionality officially becomes part of GCF Conformance Testing. This makes COMPRION the first solution on the market to cover this certification for RedCap devices.

With this, COMPRION once again underlines its leading role in the validation and certification of 5G RedCap devices and sets new standards for reliable SIM-based functions in 5G technology.
