IB-Lenhardt and COMPRION join forces to offer faster, standards-compliant NFC certifications – with a focus on the automotive industry
IB-Lenhardt AG and COMPRION GmbH have entered into a strategic partnership to offer NFC Forum-accredited certification testing directly in Germany. This service targets automotive manufacturers, suppliers, and chipset vendors.
One of the most prominent use cases is the smartphone as a digital car key. To ensure that drivers can reliably unlock and start their vehicles, all NFC components must work together seamlessly – and certification provides the foundation for this interoperability.
IB-Lenhardt brings years of experience in international product certification for wireless technologies (CE, FCC, MIC, ISED). The company operates modern, well-equipped testing facilities and has extensive expertise in the automotive sector. COMPRION is a global leader in validated testing solutions for NFC Forum conformance testing. As an active member of international standardization bodies, COMPRION has helped shape many of the relevant standards. Its NFC Forum test solution – comprising the UT³ Platform, specially designed NFC antennas, an industrial 6-axis Kawasaki robot, and tests for all analog and digital specifications – forms the backbone for certification and pre-testing.
Manufacturers benefit from the unique combination of IB-Lenhardt’s accredited testing and certification services and COMPRION’s globally recognized, highly precise testing systems. This collaboration enables significantly faster time-to-market for NFC-enabled products, ensuring global interoperability and quality. A key factor in this is the close coordination between the two partners: any technological questions or technical challenges can be addressed immediately, without delay. Manufacturers also save valuable development time by using COMPRION’s solutions early in the design phase to evaluate antenna variants – for example, through the pre-conformance version of the certification tool or the COMPRION Design Validation Center, which supports development well ahead of formal certification.

Billions of smartphones function reliably worldwide precisely because manufacturers and standardization bodies – like the NFC Forum – have agreed on shared standards. Proprietary testing is important but not sufficient – and this applies to the automotive sector as well.”
