COMPRION is pleased to announce that COMPRION's SIMfony MT8000A (Test Platform 226) and SIMfony CMX500 (Test Platform 227) are the first test systems for which RedCap USIM tests have been validated at PTCRB.
Chipset and device manufacturers, test laboratories and mobile network operators use validated test cases to ensure the interoperability, conformity and therefore also the quality of RedCap devices. In RFT 508-RedCap, PTCRB lists the USIM tests from the 3GPP TS 31.121 test specification that must be carried out for the PTCRB certification of 5G RedCap devices.
The so-called initial validation of the test cases took place during the PVG Meeting 107 at the beginning of November. The next initial validation of RedCap tests will be possible at PVG Meeting 108 at the beginning of March.
About PTCRB and PVG
PTCRB is a certification body that ensures that mobile devices meet the requirements for use in North American networks. The PTCRB Validation Group (PVG) is responsible for the validation and management of the test cases required for the certification program.
About RedCap
RedCap (Reduced Capability) is a specialized IoT technology within the 5G standard and was developed for devices with lower bandwidth requirements and longer battery life. Target devices include smartwatches, industrial sensors, monitoring systems and smart grid applications. RedCap technology has been part of 3GPP standards since Release 17. Tests based on 3GPP specifications TS 31.121 and TS 31.124 have now been validated for PTCRB certification.
