COMPRION has expanded its eSIM tools, eUICC Profile Manager and COMPRION Network Bridge, with new capabilities to support the development and validation of eIM (eSIM IoT Remote Manager) and IPA (IoT Profile Assistant) implementations. The new features are particularly beneficial for developers and test engineers working on eIM and IPA implementations.
To enable systematic testing of eIM and/or IPA using the COMPRION eSIM tools, COMPRION has developed two dedicated test specifications describing in detail how compliance with the GSMA SGP.32 specification can be verified. The included end-to-end test cases are tailored to the capabilities of the deployed tools (such as the eUICC Profile Manager), enabling targeted and efficient testing. Predefined tool configurations complement the COMPRION test specifications and simplify test execution.
The COMPRION test specifications cover validation of the key eIM and IPA functionalities. At the same time, the COMPRION eSIM tools enable a wide range of additional tests that go beyond the scope of the specifications.
Overview of New Features for eIM and IPA Development
The enhancements include new functionality in both the eUICC Profile Manager and the COMPRION Network Bridge.
The eUICC Profile Manager now supports:
The COMPRION Network Bridge / IPA now supports:
More Advanced Testing with PSMO Sequences
One of the key enhancements is the ability to create sequences of Profile State Management Operations (PSMOs).
This enables multiple profile management operations to be executed in a defined order within a single test case. For example, developers can verify how an IPA and an eSIM behave when a profile is first disabled and then deleted as part of the same request.
This capability makes it possible to validate additional scenarios beyond the standardized GSMA test cases, providing developers with greater flexibility when verifying the robustness of their implementations.
Targeted Validation of Immediate Enable
The tools now also support validation of the Immediate Enable feature.
The validation process starts by configuring the Immediate Enable attribute on the eSIM using the eUICC Profile Manager. A profile download is then initiated via the COMPRION Network Bridge from the configured default SM-DP+, enabling verification that the downloaded profile is activated automatically.
In addition, various configuration and error scenarios can be tested—for example, situations in which the profile is not downloaded from the configured default SM-DP+. This enables comprehensive validation of eSIM behavior under a wide range of operating conditions.
