COMPRION presents iSIMconnect, a connector and translator that allows manufacturers of boards or modules to establish a connection, talk to their iSIM, and test it extensively.
In recent years, the SIM card has shrunken step-by-step to the tiny eSIM. But that’s not all: there are already some implementations with the (e)SIM being no discrete component anymore. Instead, this new iSIM is fully integrated in a chip, a so-called system on chip (SoC).
Currently not standardized, iSIM devices may support a wide range of different protocols to communicate with the iSIM. This diversity makes it very difficult to test the iSIM functionality sufficiently.
Nevertheless, the UICC functionality must be tested. That’s why COMPRION has developed iSIMconnect, a connector and translator that allows manufacturers of boards or modules to establish a connection, talk to their iSIM, and test it extensively. In doing so, all proven COMPRION eSIM and RSP test tools, for example, the conformance test benches and the allrounder for working with eSIMs and profiles, eUICC Profile Manager, can be used to test the iSIM thoroughly.
iSIMconnect fits in like a standard card reader, except that it is only virtual. It enables testers to set up a communication channel between test software and the iSIM and shows the APDUs in detailed views for analysis. Today, iSIMconnect supports the AT+CSIM command set to provide generic SIM access, but the flexibility of the tool allows to adapt to any type of translation algorithm.
