Tracing NFC Extended Operating Volume and Best Practices for Antenna Positioning
With NFC Release 15, the operating range of compliant devices extends to 20 mm, making NFC technology more versatile and reliable than ever. This enhancement is especially relevant in the automotive sector, where it supports applications such as digital car keys(CCC Digital Key) and seamless in-cabin interactions.
Testing NFC communication over longer distances introduces new challenges. Using COMPRION’s TraceCase – the widely adopted sniffer for contactless transactions – we monitored data exchange between a CR15-enabled PCD and an NFC tag positioned at 20 mm.
Key finding: TraceCase captures NFC communication reliably and consistently across the full CR15 operating range.
